What it is: One of the spots you’ll want to score food from when you visit Cirrus Vodka’s new tasting room

Why we love it: We don’t need an excuse for fresh seafood in the summertime (or ever, really), but we’ll take one. Cirrus Vodka’s nextdoor neighbor just opened its doors and features casual, coastal, and flavorful vibes, with a menu of ceviche, oysters, and more, plus specialty cocktails to pair with it all (looking at you, Underdog — Pimm’s, passionfruit, cucumber, and shiso).

Where to find it: 1320 Summit Ave (Scott’s Addition)

What it is: Where to zero in the next time you’re in the mood for authentic New York-style Italian flavors

Why we love it: This family-run Italian deli recently opened a second location, bringing its Northern upbringing and culinary background inspo closer to VCU’s campus. Look for sandwiches like The Tucci with Sicilian tuna, artichokes, olives, roasted red peppers, and LTO. The menu includes espresso, coffee, and locally made DeLuca Gelato, too.

Where to find it: 515 N Harrison St (The Fan)

What it is: The newest spot taking over Kabana Rooftop’s former digs

Why we love it: Perched high above the James River, this new rooftop bar shows off views and a redesign of a fan-favorite space, featuring modern furniture and greenery accents. While it functions as both a bar and a social club, the hope is you’re coming here for elevated day drinks, especially. Look for a menu of small bites, salads, sandwiches, and wraps, along with signature cocktails like the Black Garlic & Charcoal Margarita (tequila, fresh lime juice, black garlic syrup, agave, and charcoal).

Where to find it: 700 E Main St, 20th Floor (Downtown)

What it is: Richmond’s newest — and highly buzzed-about — outdoor music venue

Why we love it: This one’s been a long time coming, and now that we’ve gotten a look during the Sunset Soundcheck kickoff, we know you’re going to want to snag tickets to a show (or five?) this summer, too. It’s got capacity for 7,500 fans, but that still seems to keep things intimate enough for the lawn seats to have a great view. Check the show schedj here and line up your calendar.

Where to find it: 350 Tredegar St (Downtown)

Brian’s Books

What it is: Another independent bookstore (!!) setting up in Church Hill

Why we love it: We’ll take as many indie bookstores as Richmonders are willing to offer, and this pocket-size one in the East End is coming to us from the founder of the comics and manga fanzine Bubbles. With a curated selection from thrift stores, personal collections, and the now-closed Azalea Flea Market, Brian’s Books is sure to be another gem for Church Hill neighbors and city-wide residents alike.

Where to find it: 2514 P St (Church Hill)
