The Trendspotter: October 2025
We’re back again with your monthly dose of must-know news, The Trendspotter! This content series features monthly roundups of the newest and hottest businesses (namely, restaurants, bars, and then some!) around RVA.
We are so glad we live in a world where there are Octobers — and new Richmond spots to visit.

Auntie Ning’s
What it is: A long-time fave of ours that’s gotten a new storefront in recent weeks
Why we love it: We’ve been known to *scarf down* orders from Auntie Ning’s (thinking of you, Pork Belly Adobo Bowl), and now that the spot for Filipino deliciousness has gotten its own brick-and-mortar, we’ll plan on doing that a lot more in the near future. Stop by for fan-favorites and expanded vegan options yourself ASAP.
Where to find it: 15 E Brookland Park Blvd (Brookland Park)

The Benedict
What it is: A restaurant to add into your morning(ish) routine
Why we love it: Open Tuesday through Sunday from about 8 am to 3 pm, The Benedict doles out corn waffles, eggs, lobster grits, French toast, and lots more. The reviews are rave, the service is friendly, and with an atmosphere as bright as sunny side up eggs, it’s a hearty addition to Richmond’s brunch scene.
Where to find it: 1331 E Cary St (Downtown)

Morty’s Market & Deli
What it is: A place for a solid meal and fixin’s for your other meals
Why we love it: We’re BIG sandwich people — and big-sandwich people — and Morty’s Market & Deli offers Italian-, Balkan- and Central European-influenced varieties all served on house-made focaccia bread. Plus, there are small plates, grab-and-go items, a stellar wine selection, and cocktails.
Where to find it: 305 W Brookland Park Blvd (Brookland Park)

Taco Vegana
What it is: A 100% plant-based Mexican eatery
Why we love it: When there are tacos involved, we don’t need to know much else, but what we do know about Taco Vegana we like, too. The restaurant has been a highly anticipated spot for Church Hill residents and Richmonders all over, and with menu items like breakfast tacos, soyrizo tacos, vegan carne asada tacos, and more, it’s easy to see why.
Where to find it: 1004 Oakwood Ave (Church Hill)

Wild Ones Play Cafe
What it is: A family-friendly spot inspired by its founder’s education, professional experience, and parenthood
Why we love it: This play space is sensory-rich and welcoming for children under 10 to safely learn, grow, and play, while their parents chit-chat and enjoy a coffee break, making it a great environment for meeting both kiddos’ developmental needs and caregivers’ desire for community.
Where to find it: 9131 Staples Mill Rd (West End)
