ML Steak

What it is: Another delish restaurant concept from Chef Mike Lindsey.

Why we love it: We recently OMG-this-is-so-good-ed through the The OG sandwich (lettuce, tomato, spicy honey, ranch, shaved pickles) from Buttermilk and Honey, so needless to say, when we heard Chef Mike Lindsey was at it again with another restaurant concept, we prepared to drool through our meals once more. ML Steak, a modern chophouse with “smoked meats, upscale fare, wine, and cocktails in a fun, modern, casual atmosphere” opened earlier this month, but we’ve been practicing our orders since we heard the news in April: “We’ll take this.” (*hands waiter whole menu*) Like, literally just give us one of everything.

Where to find it: 328 E Broad St (City Center)

The Pink Lady Pop-Up

What it is: Your new go-to for jewelry, stationary, home goods, and more.

Why we love it: The owners of clara b. and 1z 2z 3z have teamed up to launch The Pink Lady Pop-Up — an extension of their boutique-y offerings with a little extra splash of blush. The pop-up, located at 1z 2z 3z’s storefront in Westhampton, sells every “pinktastic gift” possible, from travel essentials to charcuterie utensils to Chewy Vuitton treats for your pup.

Where to find it: 401 Libbie Ave (Westhampton)

Spotty Dog Ice Cream Co.

What it is: Yet another great place to get your ice cream fix in the city.

Why we love it: We’ve been fans of this spot’s pint-to-porch delivery service for a while, and we’re psyched to have an actual parlor to visit now, too. Spotty Dog doles out deliciously unique flavors (hello, Cafe du Valkyrie, with your notes of orange, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon nestled in coffee ice cream). And their merch? Too cute.

Where to find it: 2416 Jefferson Ave (Union Hill)

RVA Fashion Week: Fall 2022

What it is: One of our favorite events to “ooo” and “ahh” over twice a year.

Why we love it: RVA Fashion Week is (back) in town for its fall iteration through Sunday, October 9! This semi-annual treat "highlights the vision, celebrates the fulfillment, and continuously expands the potential of [Richmond’s] gifted, diverse fashion and arts community." Catch local designers, models, and other artists take center stage.

Where to find it: Varies; more info here

The Richmond Folk Festival

What it is: A folk-y, fall-y River City tradish.

Why we love it: The Richmond favorite is celebrating its 18th anniversary all weekend long. Make your way to Brown’s Island through Sunday, October 9, for the free event featuring six stages of 30+ performers, food trucks, a marketplace, craft beer, and more.

Where to find it: Brown’s Island (Downtown)

Garden Glow

What it is: Another favorite event of ours, returning this fall to light things up at Maymont.

Why we love it: Starting every evening at sunset and running October 13 through November 6, the family-friendly event dazzles with its colorful lighting that cloaks the historic architecture and gardens of the RVA icon. On the Carriage House Lawn, you can even “find expanded seating and art installations in the Glow Village, along with food trucks, fire pits, [and] a Glow Bar and Glow Shop.

Where to find it: 1700 Hampton St (Maymont)
