A few shindigs in partic that caught our eyes
Free Admission Day at Virginia Museum of History & Culture
As a token of gratitude and appreciation to our service members, VMHC is offering free admission to active-duty military and veterans on Memorial Day itself. If you qualify, simply check in at the guest services desk when you arrive and have a valid ID ready.
And if you’re not active duty or a veteran, head to VMHC anyway! The gorg museum’s mission is to connect people to America's past through the unparalleled story of Virginia by collecting, preserving, and interpreting the Commonwealth's history, and, therefore linking past with present and inspiring future generations. Currently, two great exhibitions stand out for this particular holiday: We the People: The World in Our Commonwealth and Un/Bound: Free Black Virginians 1619 - 1865. It’s a great, budget-friendly way to honor the reason for the season — general admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for kids ages 6 through 17, and free for kids ages 5 and under.
Location: 428 N Arthur Ashe Blvd (Museum District)
Date & time: Monday, May 25; 10 am - 5 pm
Commonwealth’s Memorial Day Ceremony
Another timely event happens at the Virginia War Memorial. The Commonwealth’s Memorial Day Ceremony honors service members with the help of guest speakers, patriotic music, and a wreath-laying ceremony inside the Shrine of Memory. To boot, this one’s free for everyone to attend.
Location: 621 S Belvidere St (Downtown)
Date & time: Monday, May 25; 11 am - 1 pm
Daydream Fest
Is there a more American way to celebrate the USA than enjoying a crispy beer with your pals? Maybe reminiscing about this — but as far as we know, no one’s hosting a party near us for that. So, cold ones it is! On Monday aft of MDW, Main Line Brewery is pouring beers and hosting a line-up of live music and delish eats to go with them. Round out the holiday weekend by ditching the grill and ~daydreaming~ in the Diamond District.
Location: 1603 Ownby Ln (Diamond District)
Date & time: Monday, May 25; 12 - 10 pm
Live music, parties & then some
Keep the eats & drinks going:
