The wait is over…it’s time for the Genworth Lights Up! Youth Series Grand Finale!

After being on the road all season, we’re excited to come home to Dominion Energy Center for the Performing Arts on May 11th. This FREE event will offer more than 20 interactive workshops and performances for youth of all ages!

Families will participate in theatre, dance, music, digital media, and visual arts workshops provided by local artists and arts organizations, including Latin Ballet of Virginia, Virginia Stage Combat School, Cadence, Oakwood Arts, The Sage Nest, Jesse the Juggler, Richmond Ballet, Baby Artsplay!™ teaching artists, and MORE!

Doors will open at 9:00 AM the day of the event for families to check in and choose their own arts adventure for the day. All activities will run from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

On Sunday, May 12th, moms can enjoy a special Mother's Day offering with free access to the museum galleries, including the museum’s most recent exhibition Julia Child: A Recipe for Life, which is on view now through September 2nd, 2024. To receive free admission , moms can simply check in at the guest services desk when they arrive.

The concept is simple. You grab your friends, your family and/or your coworkers and meet us on Kanawha Plaza. Each month we will have a live DJ curating the vibe, introduce you to a few locally owned food trucks serving the good eats all against the backdrop of downtown Richmond.

Garden open until 9 p.m.: Evenings in the Garden are spectacular–the perfect outing for families, friends, or a date night! The Garden Shop may have some extended hours as well, so be sure to check when you visit.

Live Music

Live music 5-8 p.m.: Listen to a diverse mix of live music throughout the season, featuring local and regional acts. Performers play at Bloemendaal House, so bring your lawn chairs and blankets and spread out on the lawn or under a shady tree. There are a limited number of chairs and tables available on a first-come, first-served basis. See performer line-up below.

PLEASE NOTE: Outside food and drink are not allowed to be brought into the Garden.

The Richmond Department of Public Works and Main Street Station partnered to offer another concert series. Every Thursday this month, music lovers can catch a *free* show on the back patio of Main Street Station (or inside, if weather isn’t permitting) from 5:45 to 8 pm. The participating artists each have ties to RVA and play a variety of genres, from jazz to rock.

Hanover Community Night, Tomato Specialty Jersey & In-Your-Face Fireworks

- The businesses and organizations of Hanover County come together to recognize their community! The Squirrels will rock specialty "Hanover Tomato" jerseys on-field to be auctioned off to benefit the Mechanicsville Rotary. All dogs must be leashed and current on rabies vaccinations. Please Note: We welcome dogs in the Robins Visitor Center and Conservatory, but ask that they not enter the Kelly Education Center building. Please read our rules and guidelines for visiting Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden with dogs.

Kicking off the Richmond Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall is Shakespeare’s beloved Much Ado About Nothing. Masquerades reveal as much as they hide in this hilarious comedy. There is no comedic couple quite as beguiling as Beatrice and Benedick. Wielding words as both weapon and armor (but always with a charming, effervescent glint), their banter is code for so many things - part longing, part loathing, part love. All of it a threat to their carefully cultivated swag. Their chemistry is a barely restrained force of nature. It may just break its bindings.
