Dear Great Pumpkin(s),

If you can even believe it, the 50(ish)-degree temps are here to stay, and Halloween is just around the corner. As you know, I ramped up my pumpkin spice intake somewhere after Labor Day, so, personally, I feel like I’ll be ready to turn the corner to peppermint everything once the clock strikes November 1 this weekend — but still! I can’t believe we’re already here! Nothing ever really prepares me for the comfort, joy, and Oh, boy, the holiday season brings, so until we have to shift gears from hallow to 60, I’m just going to enjoy my fun-size Butterfingers, inhale and exhale. You do the same. Have a safe and cutie Halloween!

SOCIAL NEWS

RVA Big Market is moving from Bryan Park to Midtown Green in spring 2027 to avoid disruptions from upcoming environmental restoration projects, including dam removal and stream restoration. The new location offers more space for vendors, improved ADA accessibility, Pulse bus access, nearby parking, and walking and biking access from neighborhoods like Scott’s Addition, the Fan, and the Museum District — but organizers are still working out how the year-round market will coexist with major events like Iron Blossom Music Festival and PrideFest. In the meantime, the market’s winter season will remain at Bryan Park, and founder Karen Grisevich hopes to bring a smaller Thursday evening summer market to the park, too. (Axios Richmond)

ICYMI, No 303 launched a wine club for wine lovers who want to discover new regions, producers, and bottles through three wines each month — which just so happen to be thoughtfully curated by The Richmond Experience’s very own in-house wine expert, Paige Poprocky. For $75 per month for members or $115 for guests, the club includes a monthly pickup party with tastings and the chance to connect with fellow wine lovers, plus member perks like complimentary corkage, discounts on the bottle list, and exclusive invites to special wine events and experiences. Heels high. Standards higher. Richmond-based footwear brand Kelley Kouture has opened a new 2,400-square-foot showroom and headquarters in Innsbrook, giving customers an appointment-only space to try on its heels while bringing the company’s fulfillment operations in-house. Founded by Kelley Williamson in April, the brand focuses on more comfortable heels with supportive footbeds and a patented split-heel design, with leather and suede styles typically priced around $600 per pair. The new space also includes meeting and event areas for small gatherings, and Kelley plans to expand the collection with sneakers and a new bootie style while exploring future hiring and internship opps. It still isn’t over. The musical adaptation of The Notebook is coming to Richmond’s Altria Theater next week, from November 3 through 8, as part of the Broadway in Richmond series, bringing the beloved romance to the stage with a fresh perspective. Written by Bekah Brunstetter, with music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson, the production follows Noah and Allie through three stages of life, viewing their enduring love story largely through the perspective of older Allie as she struggles with Alzheimer’s. Bekah, whose play The Cake was previously staged at Richmond Triangle Players, says the musical celebrates the power of love across time and is a fresh, life-affirming take on the classic story. Come to think of it, we’re due for a visit with Elvis. Harrisonburg-founded Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint has been acquired by Florida-based Green Shoot Brands, the restaurant group behind national chains including Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon, Carvel, and Little Caesars. The deal includes all 22 Jack Brown’s locations across seven states — including Richmond’s spot in Westhampton — where the chain serves its signature specialty burgers and craft beer. Founders Aaron Ludwig and Mike Sabin, along with company president Jason Owenby, will continue running the business, and Green Shoot Brands plans to continue expanding the restaurant chain. Cosmic Baseball is coming to CarMax Park! On June 18 and 19, 2027, the Richmond Flying Squirrels will partner with the touring attraction to bring its glow-in-the-dark baseball experience to the River City. The nighttime show transforms traditional baseball with blacklights, glowing uniforms and equipment, a live DJ, interactive fan experiences, and a new 360-degree fireworks display planned for the upcoming tour. The experience originated with the Tri-City Chili Peppers in Colonial Heights and drew more than 750,000 fans during its 2026 iteration, with fans encouraged to enter a ticket lottery for the two Richmond games.
