Hi, hi, hi!

It’s finally starting to feel like fall this week. The mornings are crispy, the afternoons are kinda crispy, and the leaves on the ground are crispy, too! And something majorly important to my own personal fall enjoyment dropped this week: the Pumpkin & Salted Caramel slice at Proper Pie Co.

Now, if you’re a big-big fan, you know the pie shop already went live earlier this month with its whole-pie holiday orders. But if you’re into a variety of sweet treats this time of year and just need a one-off pumpkin slice, this is your moment. Technically, I belong to both groups. I’ve got a whole pie with my name on it for Thanksgiving week, but… you’re gonna see me at the pie hole once (or twice?) before then, honey.

Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including bagel rumors confirmed, another hard (restaurant) goodbye, Pizza History Cemetery tour, and more.

Get your lawn ready. Spirit Halloween is getting into the holiday spirit with Spirit Christmas, a seasonal pop-up coming to Colonial Heights with giant inflatables, ugly Christmas sweaters, festive displays, photo ops, and a Candy Cane Express train where visitors can write letters to Santa. The store is expected to open in early November in the area’s current Spirit Halloween space, bringing the Christmas-themed concept to Richmond for the first time. (Axios Richmond)

When one delicious door closes, another delicious one opens. Baltik’s Bagel is expanding to Church Hill, taking over the former Alamo BBQ building on Jefferson Ave for a second location expected to open in November. The smaller shop will offer the same bagels and breakfast sammies as its Forest Hill location, with walk-up ordering and planned covered outdoor seating rather than a full dine-in cafe. (Richmond BizSense)

It’s giving Tombstone. Pizza lovers can get a taste of Richmond’s pizza history on November 1, when Richmond magazine writer Lauren Vincelli leads The Richmond Pizza History Cemetery Tour at Mount Calvary Cemetery, sharing stories about the city’s early pizza makers along with plenty of slices. (Richmond magazine)

Richmond Restaurant Week is back for its fall iteration, now through October 25, giving diners the chance to enjoy three-course meals at dozens of locally owned restaurants while supporting a good cause. Participating restaurants donate more than $5 from every meal to Feed More, helping fund the org’s hunger-relief efforts throughout the Richmond community. (Richmond Restaurant Week)

Bidding tschüss. After 12 years in Union Hill, Metzger Bar & Butchery will close its doors on December 19, marking the end of a longtime Richmond restaurant known for its talented team and German-inspired cuisine. Since opening in June 2014, the restaurant has earned a James Beard Award nom and helped launch the careers of numerous local hospitality professionals, with its owner, Brittanny Anderson, citing ongoing challenges and a difficult year for small businesses as factors in the decision to close. No high-rises necessary. Chesterfield Towne Center is getting a makeover, with its new owners planning to transform the mall into a more inviting community hub with greenery, outdoor dining, activity spaces, and relaxing hangouts. The redevelopment is expected to keep the mall open with minimal disruption, with the first phase targeted for completion by the end of 2027. And unlike other area mall transformations, the plans don’t include tearing it down or adding housing. (The Richmonder)

Go get your sticker! Weekend early voting for Virginia’s November election began on Sunday, giving voters another opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day. You can check with your local registrar for early voting locations, hours, and other details before heading out. (12 On Your Side)
