7 Breweries with Must-Try Food Menus

BY CHRISTINE WINDER

A good brewery day hinges on one very important detail: the food situation. Whether you’re planning a long afternoon with friends or just want to make sure you don’t end up hangry after a few rounds, these Richmond breweries have you covered with some of the best eats in the city. We’re talking brewery food so good you might forget you originally went there for a beer.

Triple Crossing Beer

You probably know Triple Crossing for their famous Falcon Smash IPA, but they’re also pretty famous for their pizza. The Fulton location’s Marra Forni pizza oven turns out Neapolitan-style pies with fresh toppings and just the right amount of chew.

The Veil Brewing Co - Remedy Burger

Remedy Burger recently joined forces with The Veil’s Scott’s Addition location as their new kitchen partner, and suffice to say, it’s a match made in brewery heaven. Smash burgers, fries, and a cold beer? Suffice to say less.

Väsen Brewing Company - Kobop

You may recognize Kobop as “that really good Korean BBQ food truck” that’s popped up in Carytown, at VCU, and at Buskey Cider, but now they’ve officially set up shop at Väsen’s Forest Hill location. Expect bold, flavorful menu items like their loaded nachos, Korean tacos, and cilantro pickles.

Bingo Beer Co

If you haven’t been to Bingo Beer Co in a minute, consider this your sign to go back. The Scott’s Addition brewery has revamped its menu with the help of renowned chef Brittanny Anderson, and it’s *chef’s kiss*. Fuel up with a slice of Jersey- or Detroit-style pizza, a boardwalk-inspired sandwich, or a classic calzone before showing off your pinball skills.

Location: 2900 W Broad St (Scott’s Addition)

The Answer Brewpub is the place to go if you’re looking for something different than your standard bar food. In addition to a diverse selection of craft beer, they also serve a globally inspired menu with creative offerings you can’t get anywhere else. Try their pork rinds with kimchi pimento cheese, “Greeknamese” sandwiches, or “Wake N” fried rice bowls.

The Veil Brewing Co - Y Tu Mamá

Next time you and your mom (see what we did there?) are grabbing drinks at The Veil in Forest Hill, grab a bite from their in-house restaurant Y Tu Mamá. They serve up flavorful, hearty Mexican dishes, but they’re best known for their quesabirria tacos served with a side of beef consommé for dipping.

Location: 4910 Forest Hill Ave (Forest Hill)

Fine Creek Brewing

While this brewery isn’t technically in Richmond, it’s well worth the drive for their food (and the beer, too). They like to keep things fresh by switching up the menu each season, but you can always count on them to have gourmet takes on classic comfort foods like cheesy melts, charcuterie boards, and grilled pizzas.
