What to Reach For After a Night Out in Richmond

BY CHRISTINE WINDER

We’re lucky to live in a city with no shortage of breweries and award-winning bars, but that means we’re also not strangers to a hangover. If you’re in need of a greasy meal or a healthy fix, we’ve got you covered with this list of remedies.

Grilled Cheese from Home Sweet Home

I don’t think Home Sweet Home originally set out to curate a menu of the best hangover remedies, but curate one they did. If you aren’t familiar, this Carytown restaurant infuses mac and cheese and inventive add-ons inside a traditional grilled cheese — served alongside tomato soup, of course. Whether you choose from one of their specialty grilled cheeses like the Mac and Me (mac and cheese and pork BBQ on challah bread) or build your own, their dishes are the key to reviving yourself after a night out.

Frozen Oaxacan Coffee at Get Tight Lounge

For those who prefer a little “hair of the dog” as their hangover cure, Get Tight Lounge has you covered with their Frozen Oaxacan Coffee. This drink is a blend of mezcal, Rostov’s iced coffee, horchata milkshake, and coffee grounds served in a souvenir cup. If you’re feeling adventurous (or that hungover) you can add a floater for an extra $5.

Richmonders swear by this meal from Burger Bach as a hangover fix. And for good reason! It has a little bit of everything and just enough grease to get you back on your feet.

Infrared Sauna at Purify

If all else fails, sweat it out in one of Purify’s infrared saunas. The sauna’s list of benefits is as long as the line to get into your favorite bar on a Saturday night, but those with a hangover will most appreciate that it helps with detoxification. Hit up one of their two locations in RVA.
