Look, we love Friends just as much as anybody else, but expanding your social circle throughout adulthood isn’t all coffee shops and hangin’ out at Rachel and Monica’s. (We wish, tho — sounds amazing.) So, we’ve rounded up a few ways for you to meet and greet other locals, whether you’re looking to chat books, check out new restaurants, get outside, or volunteer while you’re at it.
CreativeMornings — A free event series featuring a short talk on the first Friday of every month to inspire attendees to support, collab with, and build relationships with one another
Dyke Hang RVA — A group organizing lesbian-focused hangs around the River City, from disco nights to patio hangs
Fuckup Nights — A hella motivating event series where speakers share their stories of professional failure like businesses crashing, partnerships going up in flames, product recalls, going broke, and more
HandsOn Greater Richmond — An org for individuals, families, teams, and corporate groups in the Greater Richmond area to join together and volunteer — and base opps on your availability, skills, who you wish to serve, and activity type

Let’s Hang — A space for weekly hangouts, happy hours, and more
November Project — A grassroots fitness movement inviting Richmonders of all ages, abilities, and fitness types to “JUST SHOW UP” at their *free* workouts on Wednesdays at 6 am at the VMFA
Off the Clock Collective — Provides a space for 20-somethings to skip the awkward small talk and actually connect, starting with happy-hour-like vibes, then rolling into some light “soft launch” pitches
Ours — A coworking space meets community center supporting meaningful connections, focused work, mutual aid, and shared interests
The Porchlight Hours — A club offering accessible and affordable meet-ups with something hands-on to make or do, some snacks, and cozy and welcoming vibes
Richmond’s Run (& Walk) Clubs — When you’re going for a workout that gets you endorphins, community, and (sometimes) discounted eats and drinks
RVAx Book Club — The Richmond Experience’s very own monthly meetup for bookish Richmonders to get together over good reads, good eats, and good drinks
RVA Fatties — A community made for “connecting, uplifting, and sharing resources with fat folks of Richmond, VA”
Trying to Adult RVA — An ever-growing social group for any Richmonder in their 20s or 30s who wants to make some new friends via regularly organized events on Facebook and Meetup — group members also often post to the group’s Facebook wall their own goings-on during the week or for the weekend to see if any other peeps want to tag along
Trying to Date RVA — An extension of Trying to Adult RVA, made for folks in their 20s or 30s who are trying to navigate the modern dating scene
Urban League Greater Richmond Young Professionals — AKA Richmond YP, a volunteer org that welcomes young professionals between the ages of 21 and 45 to empower communities and change lives through volunteerism, philanthropy, and membership development that is focused on education, health, housing, jobs, and justice
