Which Richmond Brewery To Visit, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

Richmond bubbles over with breweries, so there’s a lot of personality to go around when to it comes to our city’s beer scene. Not that we don’t suggest you try every single one, but when you’re deciding where to go for starters on any given day, why not look to the key traits that have steered you right your whole life?

No matter what, the stars have aligned: You’re grabbing a cold one.

Väsen Brewing Company or Ardent Craft Ales

With its farmhouse ales and sours, Väsen is the go-to for experimental and funky flavors, and its emphasis on the great outdoors lends itself to that ram energy, too. Meanwhile, Ardent *is* passionate — by definition — and the brewery takes its name seriously; since its garage-run-co-op days, it’s sought to create innovative beers and introduce imbibers to time-tested brewing methods and beer styles.

Location: 3331 W Moore St (Scott’s Addition) and 3200 W Leigh St (Scott’s Addition)

Hours: Found here and here

Taurus

>> April 20 - May 20 <<

Benchtop Brewing or Richbrau Brewing

When you’re looking for something as solid as a Taurus, you’re looking for Benchtop or Richbrau. These two breweries offer pretty different vibes, but they have sensibility and tenacity in common.

Benchtop is the only brewery in town that offers weenies with its wallops (a loyal, winning combo if ever there were one), and Richbrau meshes its enticing brews and love of local lore to reflect a well-balanced menu of past and present.

Locations: 3331 W Moore St (Scott’s Addition) and 5 S 20th St (Shockoe Bottom)

Hours: Found here and here

Gemini

>> May 21 - June 20 <<

Strangeways Brewing or Tabol Brewing

These watering holes bring the wit and charm, like any of our favorite Geminis (hi, Amy Schumer!). Strangeways encourages visitors to “think strange, drink strange” and, from its unique bar, serves things like Damn Skippy Peanut Butter and Wake Me Up Before You Gose. Tabol cheekily calls itself “another brewery nobody asked for” and offers Who Cinch You and more.

Locations: 3110 W Leigh St (Scott’s Addition) and 2277A Dabney Rd (Near Scott’s Addition)

Hours: Found here and here

Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery or Legend Brewing Co.

Never are we more nurtured than when we visit Three Notch’d or Legend. The Scott’s Addition craft kitchen and brewery serves delicious eats, booze, and N/A brews, so literally everyone’s accounted for here. Similarly, the Manchester pub supplies sips, snacks, and stunning views of the River City. These spots are — quite literally — giving.

Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop or Garden Grove

These two take after Queen Bey herself, and TG for that; with Virgo power, it’s all in the details for Starr Hill and Garden Grove.

At the beer hall and rooftop in SA, you get fantastic craft beers, live music, rotating food trucks, breezy-beautiful seating upstairs, and specialty nights (see: $3 pours *and* 20% off to-go beer during Case of the Mondays). At Garden Grove, you get beer PLUS wine and cider made under ~perfect~ conditions; you also get taproom dinners and lots of trivia nights.

Triple Crossing

At Triple Crossing, it’s a love story; baby, just say, “yes” (to the Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza). This brewery in the heart of Richmond is the ultimate host when it comes to unreal menu items, tasty beer, and stellar settings. Fulton Hill is our favorite location, but you’ll feel the love just as much Downtown (and in Midlo, too).

Locations: 113 S Foushee St (Downtown) and 5203 Hatcher St (Fulton Hill)

Scorpio

>> October 23 - November 21 <<

The Veil Brewing Co. or Stone Brewing

You get a little mystery and a whole lotta magnetic pull when you visit The Veil Brewing Co. or Stone Brewing. The Veil features a dark-and-handsome backdrop to enjoy its equally alluring (and thicc) sours. And tucked away near Fulton Hill, Stone puts down its California roots in Richmond with a castle-like taproom (gargoyle included) and spacious patio, from which you can sometimes catch a glimpse of the train passing or goats maintaining the spot’s landscape.

Locations: 1509B Belleville St (Scott’s Addition), 4910 Forest Hill Ave (Forest Hill), and 4300 Williamsburg Ave (Near Fulton Hill)
