Things We're Way Loving Right Now: July 2025

Think of this series like a Richmond-y LIKEtoKNOW.it kinda thing — but ~this is NOT an ad~.

High Score

I recently talked about this on Episode 52 of The Chatter, but I can’t stop raving about High Score from Bingo Beer Co. You can now get a different kind of buzz there thanks to the launch of the spot’s THC-infused mocktails that deliver major ‘90s nostalgia and laid-back vibes. The current flavors include Grapefruit Paloma and Ginger Mule. The Grapefruit Paloma was my personal favorite, but the Ginger Mule was equally impressive. I loved the clean, crisp taste and the mellow buzz; after two, I was definitely feeling it. I’m planning to grab a four-pack for my next pool day. Bonus: They taste more like spiked seltzer than a sweet mocktail and are only 40 calories each, making them a perfect, light alternative beverage.

Emily Warden Designs

On a recent visit to Emily Warden Designs, I shared a Reel featuring some of her latest pieces. The Richmond-based jewelry studio is known for its timeless, handcrafted pieces made in small batches using ethically sourced semi-precious and precious stones. From everyday staples to custom bridal rings, everything Emily creates tells a story, and I couldn’t resist picking up the new Puffed Contour Band to add to my wedding ring stack — it’s absolutely stunning. I have several EWD pieces and remain a huge fan of her thoughtful, elegant work.

Laura Lee's

While I haven’t made it to Laura Lee’s yet for their Girl Dinner special, it’s high on my list. Their nightly offering includes two martinis, a wedge salad, and fries to share for just $30 — perfect for a low-key night out. And while you’re there, don’t miss their happy hour, offered every evening from 5 – 7 pm at the bar; you’ll find $8 old fashioneds, martinis, and margaritas; $4 16 oz Narragansetts; and $2 off all wine by the glass and appetizers. It's the ideal spot for light bites and yapping with a friend.

Soak City

Kings Dominion was my family’s summer go-to when I was growing up, and things haven’t really changed since I’ve become a parent — my little unit loves it over there, too. When it gets especially hot, we go for the park’s extremely expansive water park, which very much includes fun for all ages. If you’ve got little ones in your crew, there’s Li’l Barefoot Beach and Splash Island, but if you’re looking to up the ante, you can visit the Tidal Wave Bay or the many massive water slide options. Literally sort by your own personal thrill level here to zero in on what you want to do, and grab your swimsuit.

Peter Chang

Some folks seem to think the summertime makes things too hot to enjoy a piping-hot meal, too, but I’m here to tell you that’s just not true. For me, there are few things better than a long day at the beach or pool capped off with your Chinese takeout order on its way to your place while you shower, get in some fresh stretchy clothes, then pop a squat on the couch for a marathon of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. I, personally, turn up the heat just a bit more with my selection — Kung Pao Chicken and white rice — but when you’re ordering from Peter Chang, you really can’t go wrong. Crank up the AC and enjoy. You had a long day of summering!
