Join Richmond-based musician, composer and cultural explorer Prabir Mehta as he dives into the fascinating intersection of science and music. With a mix of live music, psychology and personal experience, this event will explore the physics of sound—what makes notes different from one another, how vibrations shape tone and frequency and how music connects with human emotions. To put all these variables into context, Mehta will guide audiences through the ancient system of Indian raags, not simply as musical scales, but as a profound framework for organizing experience.
Sunrise Science begins at 8 a.m. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. so you can grab a complimentary cup of coffee or tea to enjoy during the talk. Each presentation includes time for audience questions at the end. The event will conclude by 9 a.m. so you can continue on with your day, but with a little extra science to fill your cup of knowledge!
Sunrise Science events are free. Tickets are capped due to fixed seating in The Dome. Guests will be asked to fill all available seats.
