All the Saints Theater Company proudly presents,
“Richmond’s 20th Annual Halloween Parade: A Funeral March For the American Dream!”
Meet at Monroe Park!
Oct 31st
7p, Sharp!
Richmond’s most treasured Halloween Tradition, it is not enough to watch the decay of democracy, our founding fathers long since dead, the confederacy dead, progress dead, the dollar dead, Prometheus and Joan of arc dead, but not, the collective Life as we had wished can barely score a day dream for the American Dream is dead, bang the bell, grab your brooms, we shall take the streets as the people who roam before and fight for our right to celebrate all that we were promised.
We declare war on nazis! We demand access to basic needs and healthcare, we envoke Saint Romero to protect migratory people from ICE and other protectors of white supremacy and the colonial spirit that follows! We demand an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people, but how do we do it….
With puppets of course, 20 years of brass and drums, mega horns and beasts, dragons, stilts, Mother Earth, king no one poisons life will be played before the people’s eyes, in larger than life pageantry made from papermache and passion! Zombie string band! Bands in tote?
The beauty of the years that have passed and the grief that we hold, we lay at the foot of the river, 20 years of all the saints, we are all all the saints, we fight oppression, we face the truth so we can understand ourselves and our enemies.
Hoorah hoorah, the American Dream is Dead!!!!
Come in your own costume, your own puppet, or join all the saints by participating in carrying a puppet hand, a flag, or a sign! Please help us in the park get ready so we can start timely! Bring your friends and family and carry a puppet together! Or go to Oregon Hill and trick or treat with your littles, and watch or join the parade as we pass!
Thank you for sharing this annual tradition with All the Saints.
We wouldn’t be here without you!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE!
There’s been a few situations here and there that need acknowledgment in order for us to safely, responsibly, and respectfully continue this annual community tradition. Help us!
1. DO NOT BRING FIREWORKS!
We had to explain that it was not any of the people involved with production and we do not condone fireworks of any kind at this celebration. Full stop.
IF YOU SEE ANYONE PULLING OUT FIREWORKS, PLEASE POLITELY ENGAGE WITH THEM TO PUT THEM AWAY (and maybe quickly explain the danger to humans and that it could trigger the city to attempt to stop future Halloween Parades from happening)!
PLEASE NO FIREWORKS!
2. PLEASE DO NOT THROW MOOP (matter out of place) aka TRASH ON THE GROUND in Monroe Park, on the parade route, or in the dog park! We know throwing candy is “fun”, but a plethora of it becomes litter. And there’s always random various trash in the dog park we have to clean up.
We strive to leave the areas we gather better than when we found them, so please help us put trash in the proper receptacles.
3. PRACTICE SAFETY AND BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS IN THE STREETS!
We will have bike marshals blocking
streets from traffic at every intersection but please be safe crossing the streets and on the parade route! AND when the parade ENDS, PLEASE walk on the sidewalks during exodus back to your vehicles, homes, or whatever your destination may be. RPD were also upset at all the folks walking in the middle of the streets after the parade was over. During the parade it’s encouraged, but once we are done, take to the sidewalks when you exit.
3. PLEASE LEAVE ANIMALS AT HOME! We love all the furbabies, but crowds, music, costumes, giant puppets, and such can be overwhelming for them! Animals have heightened senses and can be more easily frightened and triggered by it all. And sometimes furbabies don’t get along w someone else’s furbabies. Leave them at home or with friends.
4. Safety, respect, and personal responsibility for yourself and those around you is utmost importance as we march and celebrate! Treat everyone with kindness! We love Oregon Hill so please respect the neighborhood as if it was your own! We’re all in it together!
*If some of these things continue to happen, it puts the Halloween Parade in danger of major pushback from
the city and potentially getting shut down.*
Nobody wants that!
HELP US KEEP THE HALLOWEEN MAGIC ALIVE!
Thank you all for your support! Stay hydrated and let’s have fun!
