This isn't your typical 5K. Each October, Smoketree neighborhood transforms into a spooky, family-friendly Halloween experience where runners navigate a 3-mile course filled with chasing zombies, elaborate decorations, neighborhood block parties, and fun surprises along the way. New for 2026, runners will also face the Spirea Dead End, where they'll have to confront their fears before turning back!

The event includes:

·        A 1-mile ZOMBIE FREE Fun Walk for youngersters and families to trick or treat the area

·        A 3-mile Fun Run with live zombie actors for those brave enough to enter the undead zone!

·        Costumed runners, neighborhood Halloween decorations, and a pre-race block party

·        A neighborhood-wide “Spookiest Street” decorating competition

·        Food trucks, beverages, local entertainment, and costume contest awards

·        Participation from Ghostbusters VA with donations to their children’s hospital charity

·        A community effort involving residents, volunteers, families, local schools, and other supporters
