Stella’s Grocery

 

If you haven’t made it out to the award-winning restaurant Stella’s, you can get the next best thing by popping into any one of their three grocery store locations. Pick from a wide selection of snacks, beer, wine, specialty groceries, or get a made-to-order sandwich or fresh latte from the espresso bar. Did we mention the homemade desserts?

Shields Market

 

For decades, Shields Market has been a staple in The Fan for take-home nightcaps and midnight snacks. Since the market was taken over by the owners of Joe’s Inn, it has expanded to carry some of the delicious home-style food that the beloved restaurant across the street is known for. 

 

Location: 206 N Shields Ave (The Fan) 

Hours: Sunday - Thursday, 8 am - 9 pm, Friday - Saturday, 8 am - 10 pm


Strawberry Street Market

 

This local market has it all: groceries,  beer and wine, cold remedies, and even school supplies. Beyond their large alcohol selection, they even offer beer by the keg or half keg (for your first post-pandemic party)! If you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood looking for some grub, they also have a wide variety of ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner options prepared fresh in their deli section.

Brookland Park Market

We love a good charcuterie board — and if you need to stock up on meats and cheeses, Brookland Park Market has you covered. This new market carries unique grocery items, fresh made-to-order sandwiches, plant-based food options, and a large selection of beer and wine. Make sure to check their website for daily dinner specials!

Saison Market 

If you want a casual and inviting atmosphere to enjoy coffee or the specialty cocktails from Saison, then head next door to their sister business, Saison Market. Enjoy a cortado from their espresso bar or a bite to eat from their breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner menu. Don’t forget to check out their boutique bottle shop featuring an array of wines and beers while you’re there, too.

Union Market

Nestled in the heart of Union Hill is Union Market, a small food market with an attached restaurant serving light breakfast and lunch fare. Set up under the string lights at their outdoor patio with a snack from the market or beer on tap. Did we mention they have yummy treats like Nightingale ice cream sandwiches?

Lombardy Market

Famed for their deviled eggs, Lombardy Market has been a go-to convenience store for 40 years in The Fan. This market has everything you need from toiletries to a deli featuring sandwiches made fresh daily and beyond.

Northside Gourmet Market

If you’re in the Northside, make sure to stop at Northside Gourmet Market. This market conveniently carries a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, meats, cheeses, and possibly any grocery item you can think of. Once you're done crossing off your grocery list, indulge in one of the 21 flavors of Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches that they carry!

Little House Green Grocery

If you want a one-stop-shop for all things locally sourced whether it be groceries or home essentials, then check out Little House Green Grocery. You’ll find Richmond staples such as Mother Shrub, King of Pops, or Busky Cider to name a few.

Libbie Market

River City Market

This black-owned market serving the Northside community offers everything from organic locally sourced foods to wellness products.
