Shining a new light on old bones!
Just because the fossils are old, doesn’t mean the technology used to examine them has to be. Join us for coffee and a morning discussion about present-day paleontology.
At the August 25 Sunrise Science, hear from Dr. Jennifer “Indy” Anné about how researchers are using modern technology to reexamine fossils. Anné will share how new technological applications of physics, chemistry and computer engineering have revitalized paleontology in the 21st century.
Anné is unleashing hidden information through the use of machines like the synchrotron, allowing her to do everything from diagnosing dinosaur diseases to determining what makes a manatee big-boned. She currently applies her fossil preparation, histology and chemistry know-how to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
