What's better than meeting an author to talk about books? Meeting four authors to talk about books! Join us for a casual meet and greet in the store with four contributors to Crime in the Old Dominion, a new anthology out from some of our local favorites!


Tickets are not required but you can pre-order a book to have ready for pickup at the event!


About the Book:

Crime in the Old Dominion is an anthology of twelve stories by members of the Central Virginia chapter of Sisters in Crime. Virginia may be for lovers, but readers of this collection will find that it's also home to mayhem, mishap ... and murder.


About the Authors:

Josh Pachter is an author, editor, and translator. Since 1968, more than 130 of his short stories have appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and many other places. A two-time Derringer winner, he was also the 2020 recipient of the Short Mystery Fiction Society's Golden Derringer for Lifetime Achievement. His 2023 novel Dutch Threat was a finalist for the Agatha, Macavity, and Lefty awards, and his 2024 YA mystery First Week Free at the Roomy Toilet was an Anthony and Agatha finalist. He lives in Brandermill.


Adam Meyer is the author of the YA novel The Last Domino.  His short fiction has been selected for Best American Mystery and Suspense Stories 2023, won the Derringer Award and been nominated for the Shamus Award. He is the editor of the anthologies In Too Deep and Hollywood Kills (with Alan Orloff).  His screenwriting credits include more than two hundred hours of television, including the Emmy Award-winning documentary series Made With Love.  


May G. Kennedy is a retired community psychologist. She taught in the Public Health program at the VCU School of Medicine until 2013. Before that, she was a behavioral scientist at CDC, and before that, a policy analyst on Capitol Hill in Washington. May has published policy reports, journal articles, and an online program planning tool called The Theory Picker, but no previous fiction. She thanks the Central Virginia SinC and the editors of this anthology for their support, and she hopes that Sidney and his geriatric sidekicks will move on to new adventures.   


Kathryn Prater Bomey’s short fiction has appeared in Black Cat WeeklyShotgun HoneyPunk Noir Magazine, and the anthologies Three Strikes—You’re Dead! and Crime in the Old Dominion, and her work is forthcoming in the anthologies Hooked on Urban Legends—and Murder and The Dame was a Dick. She has served as president and secretary of the Chesapeake Chapter of Sisters in Crime and is a member of the Central Virginia chapter of Sisters in Crime and the Short Mystery Fiction Society. As a manager of a strategic communications team at a global nonprofit and a former journalist, her nonfiction writing has appeared in magazines, blogs, and daily newspapers, including the Indianapolis StarGrand Rapids PressLansing State Journal, and Saginaw News.
